Sigma Announces the 100-400mm f/5-6.3, a Compact Telephoto Zoom for Sony and L-Mount Cameras
Sigma has announced the release of an affordable new lens for L-Mount and Sony full-frame cameras: the 100-400mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Contemporary.
The 100-400mm telephoto zoom is Sigma’s first lens of this type for full-frame cameras and at just $949 it provides Sony shooters with a very affordable lens featuring a range that’s destined to be a solid alternative to Sony’s own $2,500 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS.
The lens includes stabilization and a custom button, and is made up of 22 elements in 16 groups, offering what Sigma claims is excellent image quality in a compact size.
L-mount camera owners also have the option of two teleconverters: the TC-1411 ($399) offers 1.4 x zoom, turning the 100-400mm lens into 140-560mm f/7-9. The TC-2011 ($429) gives 2 x zoom, creating the equivalent of 200-800mm f/10-12.6.
The 100-40mm f/5-6.3 lens will be available to purchase as of July 10.
This lens seems to offer excellent value given its reach and the inclusion of stabilization. Will you be purchasing? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
