The Next Canon Cinema Camera Is Almost Here

Less than a week away, Canon will be hosting a two-day online trade show conference where a new, purportedly entry-level cinema camera will be announced.

Canon Vision, a virtual trade show for their line of Pro AV products, is scheduled to run from September 24-25, 2020. According to Canon, the event will offer an “in-depth look” at their “full professional video camera, display, and lens ranges” and is “ideal for broadcasters, cinematographers, independent filmmakers, videographers, and more.” To accomplish this, there will be six live Q&As streamed with professionals, short film screenings, and introductions to the latest Canon product releases.

One of these new products is teased by Canon through a brief mention saying only that there will be an “introduction of a new cinema camera” along with a single tantalizing product image that does not reveal much.

According to rumor sites, this may in fact be the Cinema EOS C70. Its design is said to be a boxier, overgrown DSLR-type body that differs from the EOS C100’s style. Canon Rumors has published an alleged product photo of the EOS C70 that is much more revealing than Canon’s official teaser, and also matches that description.

Could this be the company’s first RF mount cinema camera? This and other specifications such as video formats, autofocus, sensor type, LCD display, and more are open to speculation in the comments below. You can register for the Canon Vision event on their website.
